Magneto

Lucas K2F and K2FC magneto rebuilds for twin-cylinder machines. Each magneto is thoroughly tested and comes with a two-year warranty.

We specialise in the renovation of the LUCAS K2F and K2FC magnetos. When we undertake the renovation of these magnetos, we examine the following: 

Dynamo and Regulators

Lucas E3L and E3H dynamo rebuilds, nickel-plated dynamo body. Fully tested.

Electronic dynamo regulator boxes for 6-volt and 12-volt, positive and negative earth.

At SRM, we specialise in renovating these particular models of LUCAS dynamos.

In the 1940s, the LUCAS E3H (40 Watt) unit was used extensively on various British single-cylinder engines, later replaced by the more powerful LUCAS E3L (60 Watt).

British twins such as the BSA A10, TRIUMPH T100, T110 and NORTON DOMINATOR used the E3L dynamo.

Magneto Electronic Conversion

All the advantages of modern technology but still retaining the original appearance.

Small and compact with full fitting and set up instructions.

Designed to fit inside your original Magneto body without having to do any modifications to the body and to give the appearance that Magneto is standard.

The kit is a very low power consumption using only 6 watts of power when running, so suitable for use with a dynamo that only gives 60 watts maximum power.

Electronic Ignition

Direct replacement for the contact breaker system. Powerful spark at start up, precise ignition timing and electronic advance / retard. We can fit and set up on your bike.

We offer conversion kits for the K2F and the M01 magnetos. The kits are based on the Boyer Micropower ignition system with our sensor unit. The unit will fit in place of the armature in the magneto housing, thus retaining the original appearance of the magneto.

The ignition advance/ retard is controlled by the electronics in the ignition box and fires via a small.

Alternators and Rectifier/Regulators

Range of alternators from 120W to 180W with electronic rectifier /regulator rectifier units. 

We use modern electronic regulators in place of the rectifier and Zenor diode for both Single and three-phase alternators.

Standard 120-watt alternators can be matched with a single-phase rectifier regulator, whilst 150-watt alternators require a slightly higher power handling version. 

Dynamo / Alternator Conversion

An alternative to the dynamo is the ALTON alternator. 

The conversion involves a small, powerful alternator condensed into the size of a dynamo. It directly replaces the dynamo and comes with a 12v rectifier regulator box.

Available for BSA A7/A10, Pre-unit Triumph and Norton Dominator.

An SRM dynamo belt drive conversion is also available for A7/A10.
